ABOUT US

The CARDO Short Film Program has been established to recognise the exceptional work of South American short film makers. Our goal is to raise the awareness of these filmmakers and the short film genre. We want to create a stronger cultural exchange between South America and Germany and help to shed a light on contemporary and/or fundamental topics that move the South American continent.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Since this is not an annual festival but a continuous program we are happy to receive your entries at any point. Every two months a program with a specific focus on a topic will be screened in a cinema in Berlin.

IN ORDER TO QUALIFY:

Entries are open for any kind of film under 20 Minutes. All genres are welcome. Film’s final form is in High Definition (HD)

Does the filmmaker have to be from South America ?

One of the “key creatives” (i.e. Director, DOP, Writer, Producer) must be from South America.

Does the subject matter have to do with South American culture or South America?

No. You may submit any story line or genre appropriate for the competition. However the film submission may not be pornographic in nature or inappropriate and/or offensive for a general audience.

Can any film be submitted?

The only criterias are that at least one of the “key creatives” is from South America, the final film to be screened is in High Definition (resolution: 1080p / format: H.264) and has english subtitles.

How do I submit my film?

When will I know if I have been selected?

After your submission you will receive a notification if your short film got selected, with the screening date and location.

Is there a fee to enter?

No. There is no fee to enter the program. If the filmmaker incurs a fee during delivery (i.e. mail, etc.) or upload (i.e. broadband fees from personal providers, etc.), then those are not covered.

Nevertheless the audience will vote during the event and the winner´s names will be posted on social media and website.
